Game Scenarios: Mission Objectives

Game scenarios are simulations of either real events that happened, modified events, or totally fabricated missions.

War game scenarios are always with mission objectives that if properly executed would mean a win for the team or mission failure.

There are two sets of mission objectives; one for the terrorist group and one for the good guys.  You'll get to play both since most games are switched sides after each game.  The point is not to let the opposing team complete their objectives, like when a terrorist group needs to assassinate a VIP, the good guys must protect the VIP and get him from point A to point B at a set time.

There are a lot of game scenarios posted on the web that you could choose from, but the basics are capturing the other team's flag, VIP based scenarios, planting/defusing bombs, and castle sieges.  More advanced players tend to play military simulations (MilSim) where there are a lot of variables to put into consideration like limited ammo, outnumbered personnel, multiple objectives, etc.  Beginners are advised to play basic games like annihilating all the opposing team members and capturing flags.

My advise in playing whatever scenario is know your objectives, know your surroundings and possible routes, know your enemies and where they most probably are going to be coming from, and stay alive! Hoorah!

New Airsoft Models: Primary Weapon Systems

Another set of good-looking toys for the big boys! With a total of four models available; Diablo in black, Diablo in tan, MK110 with compensator, and MK112 with compensator, choose your pick!

All four models feature licensed Primary Weapon Systems (PWS) trademarks, markings, Rail Interface System (RIS), and receivers. They have full metal RIS that allow installation of many attachments like vertical grips, grenade launchers, flashlights, lasers, optics, etc. PWS compensators give the airsoft gun a much more aggressive look and feel.

How I wish I could get a hold on one of these bad ass babies! Any model, any color will do, just that I'm the one shooting and not the one on the crosshairs!  I'll definitely add this on my wishlist!

M4A1 Assault Rifle: Customize!

One of my favorite assault rifles is the M4A1; it’s like the baby brother of the M16 rifle.  The M4 real steel and its variants fire 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition single and fully automatic.  In the airsoft world, standard BBs (0.2g) for out of the box guns and heavier BBs (0.25g) for upgraded guns are used for ammo.

I love this gun because it’s fully customizable.  You can add a foregrip, a bipod, or a bipod vertical foregrip.  Depending on your Rail Interface System (RIS), you can practically attach as much add-ons to your gun as you want.  You can also remove the carry handle, which also acts as your rear sight for zeroing on targets and replace them with a wide range of optics to choose from.  My favorite though is the ACOG (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight), gwapo!

With regards to the retractable buttstock or shoulder stock, this too can also be modified to your liking.  Some airsoft players also modify their guns in such a way that the buttstock will serve as the battery casing for their gun.

Other modifications to the looks of your gun may be adding a different front sight, perhaps a flip up front sight or a gas block sight.  You can also put an AN/PEQ device which is an advanced laser pointing unit that can also serve as a battery casing for your gun.

There is a lot of ways you can dress up your gun; it can be costly, but it can sure boost your performance.  And it looks good too! :)

Woodland Camo BDU

Dressing up for open field war games usually means camouflage.  Green pastures mean wearing woodland pattern Battle Dress Uniforms (BDU) or Olive Darb (OD) uniforms.  Dry lands mean wearing desert camo BDUs or Tan colored uniforms.  There are different camo patterns to choose from as different countries have different camo patterns for their soldiers, some even use camo uniforms for hunting like mossy oak patterns, so have fun choosing and stay hidden!

Camouflage is always important in the fields because anything that will help you remain hidden or less visible to the enemy means less chances of getting hit and more chances of sneak attacks or silent kills and ambushes.

Know your game site and dress for the occasion soldier! Hoorah!

Basic Airsoft Rules

Like any other sport, there are rules in playing the game.  All players use ONLY Airsoft guns in their games and that are within the FPS (Feet per second) limit.  FPS determines the strength of the gun.  This may vary depending on the club or group you are joining.  Usually this means a limit of 350-450. Beginners are recommended to join a low FPS game.  All participants should wear proper attire (goggles, face mask, etc.).  Any player hit by BBs from an opposing team or teammate (friendly fire) to any part of the body is considered killed and must raise their guns overhead and shout "hit."  Killed members are then to exit the site with guns raised or stay put in the area where you got shot depending on the set guidelines of the game master.  If you are too close (approximately 10 feet) from an opposing player, you are NOT to shoot, instead call out a "knife kill."  The other player is then considered killed.  Any player caught cheating like not calling out a hit (zombie) is immediately kicked from the game.

Follow these simple rules and you're sure to have a fun game.  More specific rules vary from club to club so be sure to check with the group you are planning to join.  Carry on soldier! Hoorah!

Getting Started: Basic Info on Airsoft and War Games

First of all, what is an airsoft hobby about?  It’s all about war games, military tactics, and simulations.  The sport can be played as every man for himself where you take out all players leaving the last man standing the winner or team battles where you take out opposing teams or complete mission objectives.  I’ll deal with game scenarios in more detail in a different post.

Why is it called airsoft?  An airsoft gun is a replica of firearms, sometimes scaled to the real thing, down to the minute details to have a better feel of the game.  Airsoft guns shoot small diameter plastic pellets called BBs.  Guns can be gas powered or battery operated.  There is a wide array of guns to choose from, may it be pistols, sniper rifles, or assault rifles, depending on the role you wish to play.

Is it safe?  Airsoft guns can shoot upwards of 400 feet per second so it sure can hurt!  That is why safety precautions are to be followed when playing the game.  Game marshals are also assigned to watch over the players and run the game.  Wearing the proper gear is also a must, from safety goggles to boots.  This is where the fun part comes in.  Dressing up for the occasion allows you to play the role of your favorite war movie or videogame characters, so you get to have fun and at the same time protect yourself.

Try this hobby!  It’s a nice way to meet people, exercise, and get to play with toys for the big boys!
